Several city neighborhoods, including North Karachi and Surjani Town, experienced power outage at Sehri time on Wednesday due to tripping of a 132-kV transmission line of K-Electric.
The power utility said tripping partially affected power supply to a few areas of Karachi, including North Karachi, Surjani, Valika, Orangi and Hub.
Restoration work was initiated immediately and power was restored to all the affected areas in less than an hour.
A KE spokesperson said, "The KE team, which is on duty 24/7 even during these unprecedented times due to COVID-19, swiftly ensured complete restoration of power while the entire effort was also overseen by Moonis Alvi, CEO KE, and senior KE Management.
"It is important to highlight that on account of Ramadan, the power utility is providing maximum relief to customers during Seher and Iftar, and no load-shed is being carried out in any part of the city.
"However, there may be isolated outages due to localized faults or tripping especially in light of the fact that KE was forced to suspend its Annual Preventive Maintenance earlier in March on account of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that consumers at home and practicing social distancing continue to receive an uninterrupted power supply when they need it most.
"Supplying reliable power at this time remains KE's foremost responsibility, and we request the support of our valued customers as we overcome these difficult times together," he said.
