In the light of directives issued by the Ministry of Railways on 5th May, the PR Karachi division performed full-dress rehearsal at Cantt station Karachi Thursday.

All the operational parameters were examined at length under the devised SOPs for passengers.

PR officials said that the medical, security and station staff have been strictly directed to ensure the stern implementation of SOPs. 11 out of 15 trains shall be Karachi-bound in the partially resumed train operation. A comprehensive rehearsal report will be sent to the Railways Headquarters on Friday.

Prior to the start of rehearsal, every nook and corner of the station has been sprayed with disinfectants that will continue also if the operation resumes. Divisional Superintendent PR Karachi Arshad Salam Khattak supervised the entire rehearsal proceedings.

Ministry of Railways in its notification dated 5th May has expressed consideration of resuming the partial train operation in the country by 10 May. The matter will be finally decided during the one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on 8 May, the officials concluded.
