THE RUPEE: Gains value on interbank

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 20 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling against USD over Friday's rates closing at Rs 159.80 and Rs 160.20 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR exchange rate recorded no change for buying or selling as compared to Friday's rates closing at Rs 159.50 and Rs 160 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR weakened by one rupee for buying and by 50 paisas for selling closing at Rs 172 and Rs 173.5 respectively. Against UAE Dirham, PKR weakened by 10 paisas for buying and by 30 paisas for selling closing at Rs 42.80 and Rs 43.20 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR exchange rate went down by 30 paisas for buying and by 40 paisas for selling closing at Rs 41.80 and Rs 42.20 respectively.

LAHORE

The Pak rupee lost its worth in relation to the greenback and British Pound in the local currency markets on Monday. According to currency dealers, the dollar opened on positive note at Rs 159.10 and Rs 161.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 158.15 and Rs 160.90 on Saturday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 159.05 and Rs 160.95 on buying and selling, counters, respectively, the dealers added. Likewise, the local currency showed weakness against the British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 195.50 and Rs 198.00 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 193.90 and Rs 196.45 on Saturday, the dealers added.

ISLAMABAD

The dollar gained 25 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.

The dollar opened at Rs160.75(buying) and Rs 160.95(selling) against last rate of Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.70 (selling).

The dollar closed at Rs160.75(buying) and Rs 160.95(selling). The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 100,700 (selling) and Rs 100,500( buying) in the local Sarafa(gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
