The province-wise break up of the total number of cases as of 4:55pm, on May 11, is as follows: highest in Sindh 12,1017 cases followed by Punjab 11,568 cases, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 4,875 cases, Balochistan 2,017 cases, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 669 cases, Gilgit-Baltistan 442 cases, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 68 cases.
So far, coronavirus has claimed 691 lives in Pakistan, of which 257 in the KP, 200 in Sindh, 197 in Punjab, 26 in Balochistan, four in Gilgit-Baltistan, and six in the ICT.
According to officials, so far out of 31,684 patients in Pakistan, more than 8,200 patients have recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, following the government decision to ease down restriction in the Punjab, routine life has returned in the twin cities of Rawalpindi/Islamabad, as majority of the people have started normal activities without taking any precautionary measures.
On the other hand, globally coronavirus cases are rapidly moving upwards as on Monday global Covid-19 cases reached over 4.2 million, with 284,748 deaths.
More than 40,000 cases have emerged during past 24 hours worldwide with over 1,014 fresh deaths in the past 24 hours.
Latest most effected countries are USA with 1.39 million cases and over 80,000 deaths, followed by Spain with 268,143 cases and 26,744 deaths, the UK 223,060 cases and 32,065 deaths, Russia with 221,344 cases with over 2,000 deaths, and Italy with 219,070 cases, and 30,560 deaths.
Sindh is now the second province in the country to report 200 deaths after the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, 537 new cases were recorded in the province in the last 24 hours, with 432 of the new cases reported from Karachi.
"2,149 patients have recovered in the province so far," Shah said, adding that they have conducted 95,053 tests so far. According to KP Health Department, 12 new deaths were reported in the province in the last 24 hours. With the new deaths KP's tally now stands at 257.
According to the KP Health Department, 206 new cases were recorded in the province in the last 24 hours.
"130 patients [have] recovered taking total to 1,257," KPK Health Department said. The Punjab Health Department has reported 475 new Covid-19 cases, taking its tally to 11,568.
Five people also succumbed to the disease, bringing the number of fatalities in the province to 197. According to the department, 37.37 percent people have recovered so far, while a total of 130,546 tests have been conducted. The countrywide total number of cases now stands at 31,478.
