The Karachi Port handled 107,641 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,919 tonnes of import cargo and 19,722 tonnes of export cargo including 3,735 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 87,919 tonnes comprised of 33,906 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,162 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,757 tonnes of canola; 5,094 tonnes of chemical and 33,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 19,722 tonnes comprised of 19,461 tonnes of containerised cargo; 261 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 3,735 containers comprising of 2,195 containers of import and 1,540 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 595 of 20's and 796 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 04 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 459 of 20's and 404 of 40's loaded containers while 01 of 20's and 136 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely MSC Sabrina, Northern Dedication and Manetn carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Xin Shanghai, Kota Kaya and Cosco Rotterdam carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Xin Shanghai and Bulk Newport carrying containers and DAP respectively expected to sail on Tuesday while another ship namely Kong Que Zuo carrying mogas is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are three vessels viz. YM Excellence, Telemann and Coral Star carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five more vessels viz. Edison, Ubena, MSC Sabrina, Crimson Queen and Magnnolia carrying containers, rock phosphate and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 85,216 tonnes includes 26,406 tonnes of coal; 17,400 tonnes of palm oil; 4,000 tonnes of soyabean; 9,862 tonnes of steel coil; 1,100 tonnes of LPG and 26,448 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,365 tonnes includes 9,863 tonnes of rice and 12,502 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,050 containers comprising of 1,392 containers import and 658 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely River Globe and Kazak carrying steel coil and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely MSC Busan, Bomar Oyster and Asia Liberty carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. Tisntao Express, Great Comfort, BBC Forever, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, Mermaid Star, Gas Arma, Celia, Gas Amazon, Epic Manhattan, Tomson Gas and Hoegh Gallant carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. Mearsk Kensington, Mermaid Star, Gas Arma and Able Sailor carrying containers, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Mearsk Kensington and Able Sailor carrying containers and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
