THE RUPEE: Falling trend

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee lost 30 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over Monday's rates closing at 160.10 and 160.50 respectively. OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR went down by 30 paisas for buying and by 50 paisas for selling as compared to Monday's rates closing at 159.80 and 160.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained strength by one rupee for buying and by 50 paisas for selling closing at 171 and 173 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR weakened by 10 paisas for buying while recording no change for selling over Monday's rates closing at 42.90 and 43.20 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR exchange rate recorded no change closing at 41.80 and 42.20 for buying and selling respectively.

LAHORE

The Pak rupee depreciated its worth in relation to the greenback and British Pound in the local currency markets on Tuesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback opened at Rs 159.60 and Rs 161.50 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 159.05 and Rs 160.95 on Monday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 159.10 and Rs 161.10 on buying and selling, counters, respectively, the dealers added.

The local currency also showed weakness against British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 195.70 and Rs 198.05 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 195.50 and Rs 198.00 on Monday, the dealers added.

ISLAMABAD

The dollar further gained 25 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs161(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling) against last rate of Rs160.75(buying) and Rs 160.95(selling).

The dollar closed at Rs161(buying) and Rs 161.20(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 100,700 (selling) and Rs 100,500(buying) in the local Sarafa(gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
