The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Friday demanded 24/7 opening of Torkham border, speedy clearance of trucks/containers, besides removal of hurdles to bilateral trade and transit trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The demand was made by SCCI Senior Vice president Shahid Hussain and others during a meeting with border management and officials at Torkham border.
Shahid Hussain said that Pak-Afghan bilateral trade is already very low, while the government policies would further affect the mutual trade between the two neighbouring countries. He said the Torkham border should be opened round the clock to help expedite clearing of trucks and containers stuck on both sides of the border for the last many days.
