The first domestic flight will depart from Karachi to Lahore on Saturday following the government's decision to lift a nearly two-month-long suspension of domestic flight operations due to coronavirus pandemic.
A spokesperson for the aviation department said that the PIA flight will leave for Lahore at 1pm today. The spokesperson continued that passengers’ temperature will be checked on arrival at the airport before they board the plane.
On Friday, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan announced the government's decision to resume domestic flight operations from May 16 (today). He also announced that only Pakistan PIA and Serene Air would be allowed to resume flight operations between Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta.
