President of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) Naseem Akhtar has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan, Finance Advisor Hafeez Sheikh, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Federal Minister Hammad Azhar and advisor on commerce and investment Abdul Razzaq Dawood for waiving 3 months' electricity bills of small and medium-scale industries.
"For the first time in history, direct relief has been given to small and medium scale industries which will definitely yield positive results and the country will once again be the cradle of economic activity despite the presence of corona," he said.
He said that the coronavirus pandemic has had a devastating effect on the country's trade and industry, which has caused severe financial losses to industries, especially SMEs and it is not possible for them to survive so giving relief is an important need of the hour.
Patron-in-chief of NKATI, A. Moiz Khan, said that in the current severe economic crisis in the country, the announcement by the government has brought relief to the devastated industries.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan's move would benefit the North Karachi industrial area, which consists of small and medium scale industries.
