Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday held Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar responsible for the sugar crisis, and termed the report on the commodity an 'attempt to distract the nation for giving another NRO to Imran Khan.'
Reacting to the report on sugar crisis the former premier demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and PM's Adviser on Finance Hafeez Sheikh must be arrested immediately, adding: "they made all the decisions to enable the theft of sugar".
"There wasn't a single name mentioned of the actual sugar thieves, Imran Khan and Usman Buzdar, in the government's media circus...This media circus is an attempt to distract the nation to give another NRO to Imran Khan."
Abbasi said it was an 'undeniable truth' that Imran Khan had given permission to export sugar, when there was a shortage in the country.
"The truth is that Imran Khan and his cabinet gave approval to increase the prices of sugar. It is the truth that Imran Khan crafted a strategy of media circus to save himself and his cronies, while abusing power to use the FIA as a tool," he further maintained. Abbasi said the PML-N would decide its response after analyzing the report.
