Cognizant of the rigors of peak summer and the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis, and in line with its commitment to provide maximum relief to the people of Karachi, K-Electric (KE), will continue to exempt residential consumers from scheduled load-shed from 22nd May till 27th May so that they may spend Eid holidays with their families safe in the comfort of their homes. In this regard, all bill payment due dates falling between May 22 to May 29, 2020, have also been extended to June 01, 2020 without any late payment surcharge being applied.
Moonis Alvi, CEO KE assured consumers of the power utility's resolve to go the extra mile in facilitating them, "Whilst our customers spend Eid in their homes, with their loved ones, our teams at K-Electric will be in the background, while taking all necessary precautions, working to ensure power for Karachi and its surrounding areas, so that millions of people are able to stay safe in their homes."
Despite increased financial constraints resulting from ballooning government receivables, KE extended load-shed exemption to all parts of the city and ensured reliable power supply during Ramadan and the lockdown period. This has only been possible due to the utility's continued investments in enhancing and upgrading its transmission and distribution system. With the easing of the lockdown restrictions and the revival of industrial and commercial operations, the demand for power is expected to increase, especially with the onset of summer.
As we all prepare for Eid and gradual end of the lockdown, our hearts go out to those who are no longer with us and we grieve for those who have lost their loved ones in the ill-fated PIA flight that crashed in Karachi. KE as a responsible corporate entity urges citizens to stay at home during these uncertain times.
KE staff will continue to remain accessible 24/7 through the 118 call centers, via SMS to 8119, the KE Live app and social media.-PR
