50 Cent has been working diligently on his new album, releasing singles from the project since late last year. 5 (Murder by Numbers) is the fifth studio album by American rapper 50 Cent.
Last month 50, real name Curtis Jackson, said he was going to release the project on July 3rd with or without his label's support. "There’s a lot more business involved [in putting out an album] than the general public is aware of. And that part causes the actual delay with [Interscope]. I’m releasing my album July 3rd, whether is has commercial promotions or not,” he said. “My birthday is July 6 and I planned for it. And I’m doing everything that I planned to do regardless if it’s huge airplay or not. I could careless; I’m putting the record out.”
Initially reported to be released during the summer of 2011, the release date of FIVE (Murder by Numbers) has since been pushed back on several occasions, largely due to disagreements between 50 Cent and Interscope Record over the release and promotion of the album, which led to the album's brief cancellation. However, 50 Cent later confirmed that the album will be released on July 3, 2012, although it is currently unclear weather Interscope will promote the album or not.
