KARACHI: The government is planning to turn the ancestral home of Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar (previously known as Yusuf Khan) into a World Heritage Site. The home of the Bollywood actor is located in the city of Peshawar where he spent 12 years of his childhood since birth in 1922, before moving to Mumbai with his family.

The house is located in Mohalla Khudadad near Qissa Khwani Bazaar. A run-down building located at the end of a narrow street.

The culture department also plans to bring Dilip Kumar’s personal belongings to the house from India to put on display for visiting fans. Plans of building a library of his films are also on the agenda. But all plans have been stalled as the government has been unsuccessful in securing the property as it has many claimants which have made matters legally complicated.

It would be a true testament to the living legend to commend his work if the plans become successful. Plus, the move could prove to be a milestone in developing friendly relations between the two neighboring nations.
