The Dark Knight Rises is one of the biggest and most-awaited cinematic releases of the year, and is expected to top all box-office records set by the competition. But the superhero-themed rivalry has now gotten fierce, as summer has already seen the candy-coloured super heroes the Avengers, become an unprecedented hit. Now the torch has been passed to the Amazing Spiderman which has been topping box office charts since its release

The summer witnessed Avengers Assemble become the third highest-grossing film in history after Avatar and Titanic.

Adding more fuel to competition, the reboot of the Spiderman brand, the Amazing Spiderman, has now become the title holder of the Number 1 spot. It now faces a threat to end its reign as the end of Nolan’s trilogy, the Dark Knight Rises is less than two weeks away for releasing.

The Dark Knight Rises has an overall edge over the Amazing Spiderman as it has a much more experienced cast featuring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway coupled with the Award-Winning direction of Christopher Nolan. Though the Amazing Spiderman has opened strongly, the mere fact the Dark Knight Rises will provide an end to a coveted trilogy gives the caped-crusader an unprecedented edge over the web-slinger.
