KARACHI: Scarlett Johansson is to pocket £13 million for Avengers 2 — the most an actress
has ever been paid for a movie.
She will soon have three superhero movies under her belt so it is no wonder producers are keen to get her experience on board for a fourth.
Johansson has reportedly been offered £13 million to star in the sequel to Avengers Assemble.
The staggering amount will make the 27-year-old the highest paid female actor of all time.
Johansson may be the only member of the Avengers that is female but she spoke earlier this year about her character and has proved she can hold her own against her male counterparts.
She is said to be returning as Black Widow in the superhero sequel.
The huge fee would cover the £12.2 million paid to Angelina Jolie for her role in The Tourist, back in 2010.
Movie bosses want Johansson to sign after Avengers Assemble grossed £936 million — the third
highest in history.
As per the media reports, “Scarlett is the hottest star in Hollywood and her inclusion in
the sequel is a must. Producers think that as the only lead woman in the film male fans have
found her a key ingredient —both for looks and story appeal. She is loved by critics too.
This says, ‘We value you’. Everyone is confident she’ll sign and be ready for 2013 filming.”
Robert Downey, Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner would also get a 50 percent pay rise in the
sequel.
Johansson is a Global Ambassador for the aid and development agency, Oxfam. She rarely discusses her personal life with the press, saying, "It's nice to have everybody not know your business".
