According to media sources, Vilasrao Deshmukh died in Chennai Hospital at the age of sixty seven. It is reported that he was suffering from liver disorder.
The former CM was suffering from multiple organ failure, had cirrhosis of liver and had dysfunctional kidneys.
Sources said that Vilasrao Deshmukh’s ill health was recognized a year ago. He went for surgery abroad, but recently felt seriously ill when both of his kidneys stopped working.
Sources added that his son Deshmukh had a talk with the authorities to donate a part of his liver but doctors said that he requires a full liver. Along with his liver, his kidney also failed and they were also considering kidney transplant.
Vilasrao Deshmukh was the Union minister and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He was later appointed minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences in the union cabinet.
