ISLAMABAD; Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Farzana Raja on Thursday said that some 200,000 mobile phone sets have been delivered among the BISP beneficiaries to make it more transparent.
The phone sets have been gifted by various banks and cellular phone service providers, she told a private news channel.
The mobile phone banking has been started in Larkana, Layyah, Barkhan and Batagram in cooperation with State Bank of Pakistan, she said and added the Benazir Smart Card has been launched in Mianwali, Multan, Mirpur Khas and Sanghar districts.
The key objective of BISP is to provide support to people living under poverty line, empower women and provide education and health facilities to the children, she said.
To a question, she said the main purpose of the poverty survey is to provide equal opportunities to all the citizens. She hoped that BISP will certainly help in making the country a welfare state.
She said five, 10 and 15 year plans have been prepared for the programme.
