A senior counsel appeared before a bench and submitted that the prosecution had established unimpeachable evidence to prove Bollywood actor’s possession of arms in association with the riots.
CBI concluded its argument in the appeal filed by Dutt challenging his conviction under the
Arms Act.
The apex court had commenced final hearing on November 1, 2011 on appeals filed by the
convicts as well as CBI in 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
However, CBI has chosen not to appeal against Dutt who was acquitted of the charge of
conspiracy in the blast under the Indian law of Terrorist and Disruptive Activities
(Prevention) Act (TADA).
But, Dutt was awarded six years imprisonment by a designated court for being in illegal
possession of arms under the Arms Act.
