Many special congregations were held to mark the occasion, in which speakers paid rich tributes to the departed leader for sacrificing her life for maintaining national unity, solidarity, and cohesion among the masses besides for the promotion of democracy and maintaining democratic norms and values in the country.
Quran Khawani was also held at all major cities and towns across the AJK for the departed soul of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in the ceremonies.
Senior leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) including members of AJK Legislative Assembly, AJK Council and party office bearers from respective districts and the followers of Bhuttos including the citizens representing all classes of the society attended the ceremonies.
They also offered special prayers for the progress and prosperity of the country under the dynamic leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and others.
In Mirpur, special ceremony to observe the martyrdom anniversary was held at the Peoples Secretariat under the auspices of local branch of PPP AJK.
PPP leaders including central Deputy Secretary General Shoukat Raja Advocate, former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ch. Arshad Hussain, Nadeem Qasmi, Coordinator PPP Youth Wing AJK Qazi Azher-ul-Haq, Farid Anwar, khurram Pasha, shaid Rathore, Afraz Hamza, Mirza Nasir Jiraal, Ch. Zulfiqar Azam, Shakoor Butt and others attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, PPP leaders described the assassination of Benazir as a huge irreparable loss for entire Pakistani nation and the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
They said Pakistani nation was deprived of the supreme politician who preferred to die like her valiant father late Z.A.Bhutto for the sake of rights of the people, national interests and for ever-lasting emergence of true democratic rule in the country.
Speakers said late Benazir Bhutto emerged as the brave and strongest lady of the world as she took no care of the repeated threats to her life by the extremists and terrorists.
Speakers said that she was the symbol of complete national unity, integrity and harmony of all four provinces of Pakistan.
They vowed to continue the mission of Bhuttos in the greater national interests of Pakistan including AJK by attaining and protecting the due rights of the masses especially neglected and down trodden classes of the society.
