He added that they should in particular focus on the implementation of agreements signed with foreign countries.

The Prime Minister was talking to a group of ministers, who called on him at his office at Prime Minister's Secretariat here on Wednesday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said that keeping in view the current financially tight situation, the ministries should adopt cost effective measures and give priority to the near completion projects.

He stressed that awareness about various government initiatives of public nature must be created among the general masses through an effective publicity campaign.

The Prime Minister stressed upon greater coordination among the ministries especially about the public welfare schemes.

He said that people have elected their representatives to present their will and update the government about their immediate requirements.

The ministers apprised the Prime Minister about the progress of various initiatives and public schemes undertaken by their respective ministries. They also briefed him about the status of various development projects initiated by their respective ministries.

The ministers included Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Minister for Labour Syed Khursheed Shah, Minister for Petroleum Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Information Technology Sardar Aseff Ahmed Ali, Minister for Food and Agriculture Nazar Muhammad Gondal and Minister of State for Finance Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar.
