Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Imdad Ullah Bosal talking to APP on Monday said that all other arrangements by the departments concerned for the security of the mourners were finalized before the start of Muharram.
He said, elaborate security arrangements have been made for Muharram and the authorities concerned have also been requested for the deployment of military troops and rangers for security.
"We have asked for 36 companies of Army and Rangers, as we need them to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during Muharram", he said.
He told that 10 companies of Army and four companies of Rangers would be deployed in Rawalpindi district. Likewise, six companies of Army and four companies of Rangers will be for Attock district, four companies of Army and two companies of Rangers will be for Chakwal and three companies of Army and three companies of Rangers will also be deployed in Jhelum district.
He further informed that coordinated efforts with the help of all the departments concerned are being made for Muharram. There will also be aerial surveillance for the security of the processions on 9th and 10th Muharram in the division to make the security arrangements foolproof.
According to details, out of total Majalis of the division, in Rawalpindi district, the Majalis of A category are 208 while 369 of B category and 1200 of C category.
In Chakwal district there will be one majlis of A category with 775 majalis of C category, in Attock district there will be 171 majalis of A category, 40 of B category and 543 of C category and in Jhelum district, six majalis will be of B category while 463 majalis of C category would be held.
In Rawalpindi division total 171 licensed mourning processions and 836 traditional processions are brought out from 1st of Muharram to 30th of Muharram.
In Rawalpindi district there will be 64 licensed while 384 traditional mourning processions, in Attock district 16 licensed and 137 traditional processions, in Chakwal district 17 licensed and 225 traditional while in Jhelum district 30 licensed and 130 traditional processions would be brought out.
