KARACHI: Britney Spears became the highest earning female musician of 2012 without having even launched an album or going on tour.
According to Forbes magazine, the former pop star grossed $58 million in the past 12 months, just slightly less than the $67 million she earned in 2010. Forbes studies the income from record sales, tours, endorsements and merchandising from a period of May 2011 to May 2012.
The singer beat last year’s top earner Lady Gaga (who made $52 million this year) and edged out Taylor Swift’s $57 million earnings from tours and deals with popular brands.
Spears who will be heading back to the alter next year, has signed a $15 million deal with reality show X Factor, which contributes to her overall earnings, as well as including endorsement and merchandising deals.
Other musicians on the list included, Rihanna with $53 million, Katy Perry with $45 million, Madonna with $30 million and Beyonce with $30 million respectively.
