KARACHI: The UN has asked for specific documents for the Taliban officials who are set to fly to Paris for peace talks with the Afghan government.

The Security Council’s sanctions committee has asked for a passport or travel documents of the persons traveling with information on specific locations to which they are expected to travel and the period of time which can be up to nine months.

Sources add Britian’s UN ambassador stated that the travel ban exemption for the Taliban is made flexible to ease hurdles to accomplish the purpose of holding peace and reconciliation talks.

As foreign troops have started giving control to Afghan forces peace talks with the concerned parties are important to build a structure and maintain close corporation between the Afghan government and the sanctions committee. Officials will also discuss the future of the country.

Foreign forces are expected to complete the process of handing control over to the Afghans by 2014.
