KARACHI: American actor, writer, director and producer Vin Diesel is set to play tough New York detective Kojak in a big screen reboot of the 70s TV cop show of the same title. The upcoming project will be produced by Universal Pictures.
The "Skyfall" writing team of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade has come on aboard to write an adaptation of the CBS show "Kojak".
The pair also wrote together the last four Bond films including "The World is not Enough", "Die Another Day", "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace".
The show ran for five seasons and 125 episodes on CBS from 1973-78 and starred Telly Savalas as Lt. Theo Kojak, a slick, fiery detective who fought crime in New York.
Meanwhile, Diesel has just finished filming "Fast and Furious 6" and will start shooting for the project soon.
