imageUS based Pakistani journalist and documentary filmmaker Shahzad Hameed Ahmed wins ‘Prince of Asturias Award’ for his documentary film ‘The Pakistan Four’. With this, he becomes the first Pakistani to receive this prestigious honour.

The award, which is equivalent to Spain’s Nobel Peace Prize was given to Shahzad by the King of Spain, Felipe VI, on behalf of the ‘Fulbright Global Program for International Cooperation’.

‘The Pakistan Four’ revolves around the life of a sous-chef, weightlifter, saber fencer and a standup comic, the documentary aims to redefine the perception on Pakistani Muslim Woman around the globe.

The aim of the foundation is to consolidate the existing links between the Principality and the person who bears the title of ‘Prince or Princess of Asturias’, a title which corresponds to the heir to the Spanish throne and to contribute to promoting the scientific, cultural and humanistic values that form part of mankind’s universal heritage.

Nelson Mandela, the most respected personality of the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, had also been a recipient of this award in 1992.
