ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday summoned to Rai Mujtaba Kharal, former lawmaker over manhandling of Presiding Officer in Okara.
A three member bench of ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan resumed hearing of a notice taken by secretary election commission over allegedly slapping of presiding officer.
During the hearing, presiding officer appeared before the ECP and said that he was not slapped by Rai Mujtaba Kharal, however few people tried to spoil the peaceful environment of polling on election day.
To this, CEC asked the presiding officer do not hesitate and elaborate your case without any fear.
District Returning Officer, Returning Officer also appeared and submitted their report with regard to the alleged manhandling of presiding officer.
They said that an FIR had been registered and investigation was underway. Further hearing of the case was adjourned till November 26.
