Due to low visibility caused by smog, one person was killed while several others were injured in Faisalabad in separate road accidents on Thursday.

An accident on Kalyanwala Road in Mamukanjan town of Faisalabad took the life of one person when a motorcycle hit a donkey cart, while another person was injured, local media reported.

In another accident on Jhang Road, five people were injured, who were taken to hospital, rescue sources said. The accident was caused when seven vehicles collided into each other on a single spot due to the heavy blanketed smog in the air.

Similar accidents also injured people in different parts of Lahore. This is the second time that Lahore has been in this situation of air pollution.

According to the meteorological department, low visibility was recorded in many cities of Lahore. The record showed a low visibility in Lahore at 300 meters, 400 meters in Faisalabad and 20 meters in Sahiwal and Toba Tek Singh.

Reason for smog in Lahore, according to Chief Meteorologist Mohammad Riaz, can be the smoke from factories, vehicles and the burning remains of crops.  He said that the only way smog can be washed away is by rain or strong winds.
