The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered on Thursday the religious parties to put an end to their ongoing sit-in in the Federal Capital.

The parties have been protesting against a reversed change in the Khatm-i-Nabuwwat oath in the Elections Act 2017 in their sit-in. In protest to the government’s controversial amendment and reversal in the finality of Prophethood oath for lawmakers, two parties, Tehreek-i-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLY) and the Sunni Tehreek Pakistan (ST), have been protesting.

The parties have been camping since 10 days at Faizabad Interchange. Heavy contingents of police along with Rangers and other law enforcement agencies deployed to maintain law and order situation.

During the hearing, IHC Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui heard an application filed by one of the parties protesting, TLY.

The party asked to make the report made by inquiry committee, headed by Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, public so that ‘the culprits so determined therein, may very kindly be proceed against under the relevant laws.’

However, Justice Siddiqui said that the application will only be heard if the parties ended their sit-in. The judge also ordered the party to apologize for using disrespectful words against the chief justice of Pakistan, local media reported. The hearing has been adjourned till November 29.
