Cultural Day celebrated with enthusiasm across Sindh
KARACHI: Sindhi Cultural Day was celebrated across Sindh province including Karachi with enthusiasm and fervor. Rallies and colorful programs were held to highlight the centuries-old rich culture of the province.
In Karachi, a colorful programme was held outside the Karachi Press Club in which a large number of people, including those belonging to different political and social parties participated. They were wearing Topi and Ajrak.
Rallies and programs were also held in Sukkur, Larkana, Thatta, Hyderabad, Nawabshah and other cities and towns of Sindh. Various political and nationalist parties, including Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh United Party, Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, took out rallies from different parts of the city and reached the press club.
They were singing songs of Sindh culture and dancing. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement also organized a program to celebrated the day in PIB Colony in which people were wearing Ajrak and Sindhi cap to brighten the culture of Sindh and its soil.
In Sukkur, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Sindh United Party and other social groups took out rallies. They marched through various roads and danced on the tunes of cultural songs. Women and children also took part in the rallies.
The main function was held outside the local press club. In Nawabshah, various rallies were taken out to mark the day. The women and children participated in the rallies. The participants sang songs and danced on the tunes of folk songs. They vowed to preserve culture of Sindh at all costs.
In Ghotki and Nuashehro, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz staged rallies to celebrate the day with enthusiasm. The rallies were also staged in Kashmore and Kandhkot.
Sindhi Cultural Day is widely celebrated with traditional enthusiasm to spotlight the centuries-old rich culture of Sindh. The day is celebrated all over Sindh and amongst the Sindhi diaspora around the world. Cultural day is the celebration, demonstration of culture of Sindh.
Sindhis in Sindh and Sindhi diaspora all over the world celebrate this day to demonstrate peaceful identity of Sindhi culture, acquire attention of the world towards the rich heritage and culture of Sindh.
On this jubilation people gather in all major cities of Sindh at Press Clubs, and other places and arrange various activities of Literary (Poetic) gatherings, Mach Katchehri (gathering in a place and sitting round in a circle and the fire on sticks in the center) musical concerts, seminars, lecture programs and rallies. It is also a symbol of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization.
Each year Sindhis celebrate Sindhi Cultural day worldwide on first Sunday (First week) of December. On the occasion people wear Ajrak & Sindhi Topi, traditional block printed shawl. Musical programmes and rallies are held in many cities to mark the day with zeal. Major hallmarks of cities and towns are decorated with Sindhi Ajrak to highlight the cultural values of Sindh.
