Babar reveals his cricket hero and it’s not Kohli
Pakistan top order batsman Babar Azam has revealed his batting hero , and he is not the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, to which Azam is been regularly compare to, but the Proteas legend AB de Villiers.
“I loved watching AB de Villiers in the early days. I used to follow him closely. I copied him a lot too. In the nets, I used to at least try some of the shots he played in the matches,” stated Azam, quoted ESPNcricinfo.
The top order batsman however, refrain from practicing those extravagant shots, made famous by the Mr.360. Azam informed that he currently follows Kohli and Hashim Amla, along with his batting hero.
Earlier, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur compared Azam to Kohli. The Pakistani batsman, however, doesn’t agree with the comparison, as he believes that there is still a big gap between the two.
“I think it shouldn't be done. But that is the coach's thinking. Maybe the stats at the start of our careers are similar, but he is the No. 1 batsman in the world. I want to perform at a high level for Pakistan too,” Azam added.
