Google has already been facing lawsuits from its annoyed Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL users. Recently, more lawsuits were filed against the company over ‘defective microphones’ of the smartphone.

Class action lawsuits have been filed against Google where people claim that though the company was aware of the defect, it sold the smartphones anyway. Users asserted that all of the three microphones of the device get disabled if they hold the phone in various positions or if they use it in cold temperatures.

According to Daily Mail, these microphone complaints were already there since the phones were released back in 2016. A Google employee said that the issue probably stemmed from a ‘hairline crack’ in the solder connection on the audio codec. A Google employee stated on the company’s support forum, “This is especially frustrating as a user because, just when you think you’ve got it fixed, the problem randomly comes back.”

Lawsuits filed against Apple rise from eight to more than 26

The company believed that less than 1% of the devices faced the issue after a few months of use. It then made improvements in the following devices but no fix for the Pixel and Pixel XL phone apart from replacement under warranty.

The lawsuit stated that Google continued to sell the earlier models of Pixel knowing that they had faults. “Despite receiving hundreds of complaints shortly after launch – and admitting the phones have a ‘faulty microphone’ – Google continues to sell the Pixel phones without telling purchasers about the microphone defect. Moreover, instead of fixing the defective Pixel phones, Google has replaced defective phones with other defective phones, resulting in many consumers repeatedly experiencing the microphone defect.”

However, Tech Juice reported, a Google’s spokesperson Emily Clarke said, “We don’t comment on ongoing litigation.”
