The Supreme Court (SC) has once again issued a contempt of court notice to former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi.

Once the court proceedings commenced on Wednesday, Hashmi apologized saying that he could never think of disrespecting the judiciary and court. When the court played the video in which he had abused the court post jail release, Hashmi replied that he was just acting, to which the judge asked whether he was an actor, local media reported.

SC summons Nehal Hashmi over repeated contempt of court

Hashmi again apologized and requested the court not to cancel his licence to practice law as he had no other occupation and had to provide for his family. The SC has also issued notice to the representatives of bar association on whether Hashmi can continue practice or not.

The court then adjourned the hearing till March 12.

Earlier, the SC had sentenced Hashmi to one month jail imprisonment for his contemptuous speech against the judiciary. On his release from Adiala Jail one month later, Hashmi had again made a fiery speech, after which the SC summoned him to court on March 7 (today).
