Elon Musk warns artificial intelligence is more dangerous than nuclear wars
CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, is pretty concerned about the future of artificial intelligence (AI), it taking over everything and also about humans colonizing the Red Planet.
During a question and answers session at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, Musk spoke about various concerns and warned people about the rapid growth of AI, just like he has done it before too. He also talked about the troubles he has been facing with the manufacturing of the Tesla Model 3.
Expressing his fear about AI, he said, “I am really quite close, very close to the cutting edge in AI. It scares the hell out of me. It’s capable of vastly more than almost anyone on Earth and the rate of improvement is exponential.”

As per Business Insider, Musk also compared the AI danger to the danger posed by nuclear weapons saying that AI is much more dangerous than nuclear wars, “I think the danger of AI is much bigger than the danger of nuclear warheads by a lot. And mark my words, AI is far more dangerous than nukes.”
Also, though planning to begin short trips to and fro to Mars by 2019, Musk pointed out that colonizing Mars won’t be as exciting as it sounds and there is a ‘good chance that you will die’. Yet, Musk is still optimistic for launching test flight rockets to the Red Planet, believing that the successful trips will show other firms that interplanetary travel is possible. He also said that this colonization will be good for entrepreneurs, reported ABC News. “I think Mars should really have great bars. A Mars bar,” Musk joked.
What’s more is that Musk’s Boring Company that was building an underground tunnel to easily transport goods and services and avoid daily traffic, will now prioritize pedestrians and cyclists over cars. Few days ago, Musk tweeted about his company’s tunnels whose main concern will be mass transportation over individual vehicle usage. Musk even tweeted a video showing how it will look like when completed.
