The video sharing company YouTube has introduced a new feature through which users can go live without the need to download encoding software.

YouTube recently launched a new feature that lets YouTubers to start a live stream via their webcam by just clicking on ‘Go Live’ button on the YouTube header with no extra complicated software needed. The newly introduced feature is first introduced in Google Chrome and later will be added to other browsers.

As per BGR, after clicking the ‘Go Live’ button, the YouTuber would have to verify the account with a phone number. Once it is done, a code will be received via a phone call or text and that can take up to 24 hours to get access to the feature, at which point the user can start live streaming. Once verified, the user can go live right away.

YouTube is testing new feature that will let users minimize video

Before the go live feature, YouTubers would have to stream online by capturing content including their desktop camera and microphone and then sent them to YouTube for live streaming. Through this feature, the process that was initially a hassle for the YouTubers has turned much simpler.

According to YouTube, the feature has been initially tested by creators for beauty tutorials, product reviews and for personal updates for their followers, according to The Verge.

Also, according to the company’s plans, users can also soon start live streaming through their phone’s camera app on selected smartphone devices from Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, LG and Asus. “Our goal is to bring this feature to even more device manufacturers throughout the year through the new YouTube Mobile Live deep link.”
