Middle order batsman Asif Ali made a statement last night (Sunday) after his heroics earned his franchise the Islamabad United their second Pakistan Super League (PSL) title after beating defending champs Peshawar Zalmi at Karachi.

The Faislabad born took down one of Pakistan’s most successful bowlers of late, Hasan, as Asif hit three back-to-back maximums in the 16th over, and in doing so ruptured all the hops Sammy Zalmi’s have to reclaim the title.

“It is my natural game,” said Ali at the post match presentation. “The coaching staff tells me to take my time but I feel playing the shots gets me in. I have done well for Faisalabad. I love playing under pressure. I just have confidence to perform in the big matches,” he added.

The 26 years old, who has a hundred to credit in T20 cricket, failed to make much of an impact in the previous two seasons of PSL,  however, he had a number of useful knocks in this season, more importantly his 6 ball 26 runs, would be remember for a long time.
