Samsung too might follow Apple by releasing ‘notch’ styled smartphone
Where everyone is copying Apple’s famous ‘notch’ design, then why not Samsung? Newly revealed patent shows that the company is planning to launch a smartphone with Apple’s notch design.
A recent patent that the company has filed with Chinese patent organization SIPO and reported by the Dutch site Mobiel Kopen, described Samsung’s attempt to maximize the screen to body ratio of the phone. The patent shows a few various phone designs each with a notch above the phone’s screen.
The phone pictured in the patent has a similar design to that of iPhone X. With a dual back camera, the picture does not show any physical fingerprint sensor, a sign which might indicate the presence of in-display fingerprint sensor. Stretching from all sides, the screen has a small rectangular cutout where the phone’s front camera, earpiece and other sensors are placed.

Looks like notch is becoming the latest trend in the smartphone industry, with manufacturers including Asus, Huawei, OnePlus and LG launching or confirming the design. Samsung too, will now take the similar route as predicted from the patent.
However, because the design has been described in a patent, it clearly does not mean that the design will surely be released. Samsung did not respond to a request for comment, reported CNET.
