Pakistan senior middle order batsman Asad Shafiq has expressed disappointment over his side’s inability to win the two Tests series against England, after they managed to level the series 1-1.

“Back in Pakistan with family for the last few days of Ramazan!” Shafiq said in a post on social media site Twitter. The middle order batsman, however, remained optimistic that the Pakistan cricket team will give out their best in the future.

“Little disappointed we didn’t win the series vs England but keep remembering us in your prayers and we will try our best to make you all proud,” added Shafiq.

Earlier, skipper Sarfraz Ahmed blamed the lack of discipline as a major factor behind Pakistan’s crushing loss at Headingley in the second Test, after the mercurial side outsmarted England in the first Test at Lord’s.

"We lacked discipline in batting in both the innings," the skipper said. "I think they also bowled well on the first day, but we had to play well in this innings and unfortunately we didn't bat well as a unit.
