Microsoft has announced its new cheapest, smallest and thinnest tablet, most likely to compete against rival Apple or Google’s tablets.

Early on Tuesday, tech giant Microsoft announced its new tablet ‘Surface Go’, the newest addition to its series of Surface-branded computers and laptops. Being the thinnest and smallest tablet of Microsoft as yet, the tablet is priced at an affordable rate of almost $399 and directly competes with Apple iPad and few of the affordable Chromebooks.

Microsoft to make bill payments easier

The tablet has a tiny 10-inch screen, an Intel Pentium Gold processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and a battery life of about nine hours. Though cheap, the tablet features all of the major elements including an 8MP back and 5MP front camera, split-screen, multitasking modes, variable position kickstand, magnetic charging, facial recognition, 10-finger multi-touch screen and also a Surface Pen support, as per Ars Technica.

However, if the user wishes, an additional keyboard, mouse, and stylus pen can be attached to the device, which will cost an extra amount of money. The storage too can be increased, but with some extra money. It also has an optional keyboard cover, which is available in four colors, and some additional price tag, wrote The Verge.

The tablet is hitting markets on August 2. The tech firm has already started pre-orders for the device in some of the countries including US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Taiwan, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Malaysia, and Thailand.
