The latest Android software update Android P, also known as Android 9.0, is finally here and has already started rolling out.

After Android Oreo, the much anticipated Android 9.0, popularly known as Android P, has arrived for smartphones, with the ‘P’ standing for ‘Pie’. However, for now only Google devices are getting the update to the new software, and non-pixel smartphone users would have to wait for another couple of months.

As described by Engadget, the new operating system will feature an iPhone X-like swipe navigation system via which the user can swipe up from anywhere to view full-screen previews of the most recent apps. The new version also comes with AI apps, including one dubbed as ‘Adaptive Battery’ that will save some battery by switching off apps when not needed.

The ‘Predictive App System’ can tell the users what they want to do next. For instance, if someone uses Google Maps every morning, the new feature will suggest the action in the future. A new status bar designed to work better with notches is also among the numerous updates of Android 9 Pie, reported The Verge.

Meanwhile, another feature called ‘Slices’ is soon-to-be released that will show a ‘slice’ of related information from apps when the system believes the user needs it. A ‘Digital Wellbeing’ feature will also be rolled out soon that will notify which apps take most of the time and a timer through which a user can set a limit for each app.

As announced by Google, the Android 9 Pie started rolling out for Pixel phones yesterday, with availability for other Android phones later this year. The soon-to-be rolled out features are currently available on beta version and will be actually released for all this fall.
