Google might kill Chrome support on 32mn Android devices

Recent reports suggest that Google might soon kill Chrome support for around 32 million phones running on Android Jelly Bean.

New reports suggest that Google might end its Chrome Android app support very soon for Android devices that run on the Jelly Bean operating system, reported XDA Developers.

At present, Google Chrome could be installed from the Google Play Store on any Android device running on Android 4.1 or newer. However, very soon, devices running on Android 4.4 KitKat or newer will only be supportive of Chrome.

According to Android Authority, major devices run on Android KitKat or newer, there are still some phones running on Android Jelly Bean, to be accurate, around 3.2% of such devices. This percentage converts to around 32 billion devices, since there are over one billion installs on Android devices.

Moreover, not being able to download Chrome does not mean not being able to access the internet. There are no further details as to when will the support will be cut off, but if rumors are to be believed, it might happen soon.
