Police register FIR against unknown persons in Maulana Samiul Haq’s murder
An FIR was lodged on Saturday for the murder of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-S ) Chief Maulana Samiul Haq, who was assassinated at his house last evening.
The FIR was lodged by Maulana Hamidul Haq, the son of the late JUI-S chief, at the Airport Police Station in Rawalpindi, local media reported. In the FIR, it is stated that Samiul Haq was stabbed 12 times on his chest, shoulders, ear and forehead. The chief was attacked at 6:30 pm, Friday evening.
The JUI-S chief was stabbed multiple times while gunshots were also found on his body. According to Hamidul Haq, his father was alone and resting at his residence, when he was attacked. He said the security guard, who was also the driver, was out of the house for 15 minutes, and when he returned he saw the chief lying in a pool of blood.
The funeral prayers of the JUI-S chief will be offered at 3:oo pm today at Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak. The family of the deceased has said that they do not want a postmortem examination and have shifted the body to Akora Khattak.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently on an official visit to China, expressed his grievance at the death of the chief and has ordered authorities concerned to investigate and bring the culprits to justice.
