LG Electronics to directly hire warranty service workers
SEOUL: LG Electronics Inc. on Thursday said it will directly hire 3,900 staff members from its service centers, responding to the South Korean government's push to create more stable jobs.
South Korean tech giant said it will hire workers from 130 service centers across the country to regular positions.
The company said the decision will not only boost employment but help LG bolster the quality of service.
Warranty services are currently provided by workers from subcontractors.
LG said it decided to directly hire the staff members instead of establishing a separate affiliate, in line with the government's policy to expand the number of quality jobs in the market.
The company said it will implement the new policy as soon as possible and claimed that the services provided to customers will not be affected by the transition.
Earlier this month, Samsung Electronics Service Co., a service arm of Samsung Electronics Co., said it will directly hire 8,700 workers from its subcontractors.
