New promo of ‘Aladdin’ finally shows Will Smith as blue genie
Disney has released a special look of upcoming live-action adaptation of the animated classic ‘Aladdin’ revealing the first look of Will Smith as the blue Genie.
Walt Disney dropped a 60-second TV spot during Grammy awards. The new promo gives a good look at Smith’s character as Genie. As promised, he is indeed blue and does resemble the original character.
Apart from Genie, we can see few more footage in the new promo. We see a new shot of Jafar, the magic carpet, and a good look at Jasmine and Aladdin.
Live-action remake: Jafar’s first look impresses fans more than Genie, Aladdin
Last year, a few stills of the characters from the film were revealed, in which Smith was not shown as a blue coloured genie. This caused an uproar among fans and the filmmakers came under fire for not making Genie the actual blue colour just like he was in the original cartoon movie.
Soon after, Smith responded to the criticism and promised that Genie will in fact be blue in the live-action remake, which will hit theatres on May 24.
Aladdin, a thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin played by Mena Massoud, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine played by Naomi Scott and the Genie (Smith), who may be the key to their future.
