PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa Mahmood Khan Thursday said that entire nation was standing behind the Pakistan armed forces to thwart nefarious designs of the enemy.

The Chief Minister expressed these views while presiding over an emergency meeting of Khyber Pakthunkhwa Cabinet here. He reviewed preparations for countering of any untoward emergency situation in the province.

The cabinet was told that all institutions including security forces are on high alert on the borders and all necessary resources were provided under different heads by the Finance Department to implement plans of all departments in wake of present situation.

The meeting was further told that work on emergency basis was underway in all services departments and organizations including health and electricity etc.

The Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said: “We want peace and not war. However, we will fully defend our country against any misadventure.”

He said entire nation including police, volunteers and students are committed to defend their country. All segments of the society including institutions and political parties are on same page and we are ready to give befitting response to any misadventure of the enemy, he added.

The Chief Minister said we are ready for conventional and non-conventional wars and will give strong response to any threat or war imposed on us.

“This situation is not new for us as entire KP belt was in state of war for last few decades,” he said adding we stand for peace while enemy is fanning animosity.

The Chief Minister said we knew about the destructions caused by wars, however, it is our right to defend each and every inch of the motherland.

The Chief Minister asked people to keep close eye in their surroundings and immediately informed police in case of seeing unwanted elements.

The Chief Minister also directed concerned authorizes to keep fire brigades and heavy machinery on high alert position and close eyes on infrastructure, railways and communications.

The CM said preparations should be completed for shifting of people to safer places in case of any untoward incident, saying the role of police and other departments increase in internal security in such like situations.

The Chief Minister said extra care was needed besides practical measures in merged tribal districts and alert level should be increased.

The cabinet also condemned firing on Justice Ayub Marwat of Peshawar High Court.
