FAISALABAD: Canada-Pakistan IT Forum has been established to promote cooperation in this cutting edge technology for the mutual benefits of two countries, said Thomas Tewlmedhim Chief Executive Officer of a Canadian IT firm Booking Automation.com.

In a meeting with Syed Zia Alumdar Hussain President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), he said he was in contact with 64 leading global companies which were ready to avail human resource and IT experts of Pakistan for their online businesses.

He said two delegations from Pakistan had visited Canada. Its delegates had productive meetings with 24 different companies while many of them had already started work with the six leading companies, he added.

He said in Europe handmade items were very popular and in order to market handicrafts of local artists, a company had been created which is providing online artifacts to the interested persons and 90% profit of this sale is being doled out to the concerned artist.

The president FCCI underlined the importance of information technology and welcomed the establishment of an office of Canadian IT firm in Faisalabad.

He said FCCI was striving hard to set up an IT Park in Faisalabad to produce trained human resources in this field. He said sale of many stores had declined while the online sale was increasing at much faster pace.

He mentioned amazons which had grown into a mega giant due to its online sale. He said now apps were not mandatory and women could even purchase grocery through a phone call.

He welcome the establishment of an office of book Automation.com and assured that FCCI will provide them best possible facilities to settle and launch successful operation of its company.

Negating the international propaganda against Pakistan, he said it was as safe as other developed western countries.

He also said the present government had recently offered online or on arrival visa facility for the foreign investors and tourists.

He also mentioned the agriculture importance of Pakistan and said, "Through technology transfer we could preserve surplus agriculture produce in addition to producing a large number of by-products."

He also requested Mr. Thomas to work on this proposal to earn maximum profit from his investment.

The meeting was also attended by Senior Vice President FCCI Mian Tanveer Ahmed, Engineer Asim Muneer, Farhan Tufail, Shahid Mumtaz Bajwa, Muhammad Bilal, Shahid Aslam, Farhan Bari and Shahzad Ahmed.
