LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that continuous care and adoption of precautionary measures are essential for avoiding thalassaemia.

In his message, the chief minister said that the purpose of celebrating this day was to educate the people about this disease and added that children suffering from thalassaemia deserve the full attention of the society.

He said that coordinated efforts were required to defeat this deadly disease adding that Punjab government was taking necessary measures for the treatment of the disease.

Due to the practical measures adopted by the government, the number of thalassaemia patients is decreasing and we should also remember to continue our struggle for making Pakistan a thalassaemia-free country, he added.
