NAB granted physical remand of Hamza Shehbaz till June 26
An accountability court granted on Wednesday the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) physical remand of Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Hamza Shehbaz for 15 days till June 26.
The NAB team presented the PML-N leader before the court a day after he was arrested. Hamza was brought before the court amid high security. During the hearing, which will be headed by Judge Jawadul Hassan, NAB prosecutor will request for a 15-day physical remand of Hamza, local media reported.
On Monday, the party leader appeared before the Lahore High Court (LHC) in the cases pertaining to Saaf Pani Company, Ramzan Sugar Mills, money laundering and assets beyond known source of income. After Hamza’s lawyer withdrew the bail petitions of his client, the LHC bench, headed by Judge Mazahir Ali Naqvi, rejected the bail applications.
Following the verdict of the high court, a NAB team arrested the PML-N vice-president.
