T20 specialist sees Shaheen Afridi leading Pakistan in World Cup 2023
Pakistan veteran bowler and T20 specialist Sohail Tanvir applauded young speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi, calling him the one who would lead the Pakistan’s bowling attack in the next World Cup.
“This is also good for Pakistan cricket moving forward as he and players like him, represent our future and are great long-term prospects. I feel that the low phase of his career is now behind him and he is full of confidence and I do hope that we will see him leading the Pakistan bowling attack in the next World Cup,” wrote Tanvir, at PakPassion.
Shaheen started off the World Cup campaign on a poor note as he went for runs against both Australia and South Africa, before gaining his momentum against the New Zealand with impressive figures of 3/28 and then followed it up with four wickets against Afghanistan.
However, his best performance came against Bangladesh in what was Pakistan last match of the ICC World Cup where he bowled superbly to take six wickets at Lord’s, in doing so he broke a number of records including becoming the youngest ever bowler to pick a five wicket haul at the World Cup.
The next World Cup will be held in India in 2023.
