Traders have announced to go for a two-day strike on Oct 29, 30 in the city to press their demands after holding a 'successful' hunger protest last week, businessmen said on Saturday.

Talking to Business Recorder, Chairman Sindh Tajir Ittehad, Jamil Paracha said that traders have also refused to hold talks with FBR Chairman, Shabbar Zaidi anymore because "he does not honour his promises". The strike, if demands were not met, could be extended for an indefinite period with a civil disobedience movement ahead, he added.

He claimed that traders' last week hunger strike on the city's main road was 'successful' that aired signals to the FBR authorities about their demands on CNIC condition and turnover tax. He said that FBR Chairman though accepts demands verbally but refuses to issue a notification for "IMF agreement".

Chairman Sindh Tajir Ittehad said that Karachi's traders in solidarity with the businessmen communities of other cities will hold a two-day strike on Oct 29, 30. Further line of action, he said, the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran will announce subsequently.
