Nawaz Sharif departs for London via air ambulance

After a delay of several days, ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif finally departed on Tuesday morning for London from Lahore for medical treatment.
An air ambulance arrived in Lahore from Qatar to shift the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) supremo to London. The doctors treating Nawaz have provided necessary medicines to enable him to travel. Nawaz will be shifted to the Harley Street Clinic in London immediately after landing at London.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz's personal physician Dr Adnan Khan is accompanying Nawaz. However, Nawaz's daughter Maryam Nawaz will remain in Pakistan as her passport has been surrendered in the court to secure bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills.

In a statement, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that doctors have completed a medical examination of Nawaz ahead of his departure. She further said that he has been administered high doses of steroids and medicines to ensure that his condition remains stable during travel. "An intensive care unit and an operation theatre has been set up in the air ambulance," Marriyum added.
Earlier this month, Nawaz was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on humanitarian grounds in the Al-Azizia. The former PM also obtained bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, from the Lahore High Court.
